Ina’s Chairman, Emmanuel Hoog, has been elected Chairman of the Permanent Conference of Mediterranean Audiovisual Broadcasters (COPEAM), and Ina SUP undertakes many actions in the Mediterranean basin. Current projects are related to the preservation and enhancement of its audiovisual heritage as well as the development of actions in the field of initial and continuing education.
AFIC Seminar: a Project Backed by the European Commission
AFIC – the Audiovisual Financing and Commercialisation seminar – was held within the framework of the Euromed Audiovisual programme, funded by the European Commission. It enabled Ina SUP and its Mediterranean partners to hold three seminars between 2006 and 2008 which were open to producers, distributors, directors and heads of cinema schools and universities from Mediterranean countries (MEDA countries and territories).
These seminars provide participants with an overview of the audiovisual industry, helping to encourage international activity by audiovisual companies. Training was based on case studies, conferences, and an analysis of participants’ projects and their potential. They also provided an opportunity for the creation of networks in the Mediterranean as a way of promoting future cooperative projects.
Training courses
Training agreements and conventions have been entered into between higher education bodies (the Fine Arts Academy of Lebanon, the Senghor University in Alexandria, Egypt) as well as with audiovisual companies (SNRT in Morocco, EPTV in Algeria, Cifode’Com in Tunisia).
A Masters programme in partnership with the Academy of Fine Arts of Lebanon
The partnership with Ina SUP relates to a Masters in Film and Audiovisual Production proposed by the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (ALBA).
Ina SUP’s role is to participate in the selection of candidates and in the certification of their degrees. It makes available its consulting skills and capacities to the Masters programme by running a number of modules of the course on the following subjects: French and European funding systems, the financing of productions and co-productions, the development of communications projects, the distribution of works for television or cinema, and pitching techniques.
Egypt: a partnership with Senghor University
Ina SUP is a partner of Senghor University for both initial and continuous education programmes. This French-speaking university trains students from all over sub-Saharan Africa.
Ina SUP has been called upon to participate in the Advisory Council for the Development Masters specialised in “Culture and Media Management”. The aim is to provide training for cultural directors, preparing them to play an effective role in their countries’ cultural development. It also aims to create a solid reference base for all players in the private and public sectors.

Assisting in the training of television and radio staff in Morocco and Algeria
Ina SUP trainers and experts have been working with Moroccan public radio-television (SNRT) since 2001: technicians, journalists, producers, make-up artists, etc. Several hundred SNRT employees have been able to take part in training programmes in Rabat and other cities.
In 2008 and 2009, Algerian television (EPTV) commissioned Ina SUP to train its technicians, lighting experts, computer graphics artists, etc. It also established a preservation and digitisation programme for its archives, assisted by experts from Ina and Ina SUP.
Partnership in Tunisia with Cifode’Com for broadcasting.
The Centre for Information, Training, Documentation, and Studies in Communication Technologies (Cifode'Com), funded by the Tunisian Ministry of Communication Technologies, has developed continuing education modules for professionals in partnership with Ina SUP, principally aimed at the broadcasting sector which is undergoing a deep technological transformation.
The Mediterranean University: a COPEAM project
This ambitious project is aimed at developing synergies between audiovisual and film schools and universities in the Mediterranean. The Permanent Conference of Mediterranean Audiovisual Operators (COPEAM) and Ina SUP are working together for a successful outcome to this initiative.
The mission of the Mediterranean Audiovisual University will be to facilitate exchanges between students and teachers of partner universities, to create a networking platform for partners, and to set up a label for the development of specific modules.
The final resolution of COPEAM’s General Assembly, which was held in April 2009 in Cairo, provided that: “The construction of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) represents a unique opportunity to position COPEAM as a major player in the training field and inscribe its actions in the ‘Education’ priority of UfM, thereby consolidating existing training programmes and forging targeted partnerships with audiovisual-oriented educational structures in the region. The objective here is to identify the teams and the areas of research, professional and academic training working in the audiovisual field, to encourage meetings and exchanges of experience, and to disseminate the subjects of research in order to constitute a real ‘Mediterranean Audiovisual University’. This university would be a label of excellence for multilateral-oriented training and research”.
